Quarry Lane's middle school speech and debate team closed out the year with a bang. After three grueling days of competition, the QLS Cougars emerged triumphant among hundreds of other participants at the California Middle School State Championship held at Leland High School in San Jose.

In Impromptu, Saikrishna R. and Romal M. advanced to the elimination round and were ranked 4th and 7th places, respectively. Meanwhile, Max R., Cody J., Ying Do C., and Vivian C., entertained audiences in Duo Interpretation; the two teams took third and fourth places in one of the toughest categories of the tournament. Anushri R. and Chiara M. were also recognized for their performance as semifinalists. In the best news of all, Baljeet D. and Adrienne B. were the overall champions of Original Duo! In addition to the achievements of QLS middle schoolers, high school parliamentary debaters Tim Z., Stephen L., Ed L., and Venkat V. attended the Georgiana Hayes Invitational at Prospect High School. Ed and Venkat won three of their rounds, ending with a 3-2 record! The collective victory of Quarry Lane's middle and high school speech and debate competitors at these levels echoes their consistency and dedication over the course of the year. Congratulations, everyone!
