Senior Spotlight - Tyler Lu
Class of 2019
Attending Brown University this fall

Tyler has been a part of the QLS community since he was three years old. He has played a variety of sports and was involved in school leadership until ninth grade when swimming took most of his extracurricular time. He started a non-profit organization, The Water Wish Foundation, in 6th grade which collects new goggles to donate to lower income children and adults. Since partnering with the Oakland YMCA, his organization has donated over 5,000 new goggles. He has served as the Pacific Swimming Senior Athlete Representative, representing over 16,000 USA swimmers.
Best QLS Memory
Senior Prom. It was a special night to celebrate with most of the seniors, many of which I've been friends with since elementary school. I think we all felt the sentiment that our time together is closely coming to an end.
What I'll Miss Most About QLS
My friends and car rides to school with my baby sister Sydney.
Faculty Quote
"Tyler has done an amazing job of juggling both an intense swim schedule with rigorous academics. Throughout his years at Quarry Lane, he has demonstrated the discipline required to be a successful student athlete. But what stands out to me is Tyler's character. He smiles easily, listens attentively, and has a heart of gold. I know he will do great things both in and out of the water next year!"
