Please join QLS in congratulating the 24 students who earned recognition as either Semifinalists or Commended Scholars in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Each year, a number of Quarry Lane students are bestowed this honor. Over 1.5 million juniors in approximately 21,000 high schools entered the 2021 competition last academic year by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualify Test (PSAT/NMSQT). According to the NMSC, approximately 34,000 students throughout the nation have been recognized as Commended Scholars in recognition of their exceptional academic promise.
Commended Scholars placed among the top 50,000 scorers who entered the competition. Semifinalists placed among the top 16,000, and represent less than one percent of the nation's high school students. Our semifinalists have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships.
Please join me in congratulating the Semifinalists—Prisha Bhadra, Kanchan Naik, Geetika Gopidas, Minju Lee, and Saahil Sachdeva; and Commended Scholars—Aarushi Jain, Anvi Surapaneni, Atri Surapaneni, Neha Pant, Neha Jonnalagadda, Ayush Bajaj, Amelia Afrin, Prianna Sharan, Olivia He, Kalyani Valiyaveettil, Ritu Kirsur, Abtin Ghalmansaraei, Michael Schoonover, Wesley Vong, Varsha Beldona, Dongha Cha, Anika Gupta, Edward Liu, and Anoushka Prashanth.
