The QLS Robotics team competed this weekend in their first FRC Regional Event, and brought home two awards, one for "Highest Rookie Seed", as well as the prestigious "Rookie All-Star" award which places an emphasis not only on technical aspects of the program, but on community service and partnerships with industry.
Over 35 students from our school participated at the event and worked with students from 43 teams from California and around the world, including teams from Hawaii, the Netherlands, and Turkey. They had a very successful tournament performance and earned 6th place our of 43 teams during qualifying rounds with a match record of 6-3-2. They were one of only a handful of rookie teams at the event, meaning they outperformed all but 5 established teams during our first tournament. During playoffs, the team won their quarter final matches and made it as far as the semi-finals, where they lost to the reigning world champions. The team is far from done this season with two more tournaments down the line, one in Silicon Valley in two weeks, and then the World Championship in Houston April 17th-20th. Please join us in congratulating team Tech Support for a fantastic performance!
