The Quarry Lane School believes in fostering academic excellence, self-discovery and personal integrity in our students. Our comprehensive program and exceptional faculty and staff help students discover, develop and enjoy their unique talents.
Our administration and faculty continually collaborate to maintain a curriculum that keeps pace with the needs of our students and challenges them to reach their fullest potential. Outstanding faculty, small class sizes and comprehensive teaching techniques are all essential components.
Through our extensive extracurricular offerings, students are empowered and encouraged to explore and discover their strengths and passions outside the classroom - whether it be in athletics, performing arts, service or leadership. State-of-the-art facilities and resources are integral parts of Quarry Lane's stimulating, inspirational and safe learning environment.
Top-notch academics are the core of The Quarry Lane School program. We are proud to offer three unique Academic Tracks in our high school: The International Baccalaureate (IB) High School Diploma Programme Track, The Science and Engineering Track and The College Preparatory Track.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme Track
The IB Diploma Programme Track provides a comprehensive education to prepare students for top university study. It has an interdisciplinary, global curriculum which begins in the junior year. Oral and written examinations are internationally developed and assessed. Quarry Lane is currently the only private high school in the East Bay Area to offer this prestigious diploma, which is considered the gold standard for university admission.
The Quarry Lane IB Team examines the records of each student applying for the IB program in the spring of sophomore year. The following factors are considered:
1) Academic performance
2) Academic readiness
3) Teacher recommendations
4) Parental consent and support
5) An interview with the IB Team.
Once accepted, a student must maintain a high level of academic achievement. Progress will be continuously evaluated by the IB Coordinator, the teachers, and the student.
Science, Engineering, and Technology Track
We have developed a challenging Science, Engineering and Technology Track for high school students who want to focus on these areas as a future career. Our applied science curriculum models a real-world design and research engineering lab, which supports students' empirical and theoretical research projects. These projects create opportunities for students to work alongside industry professionals at top universities and research labs. This track is not only focused on academics, but also challenges students to solve real-world problems using the disciplines of science and engineering.
College Prepartory Track
The College Preparatory Track curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for the academic challenges of higher education. With high academic expectations for all students, our graduation requirements ensure a comprehensive educational foundation and meet, or surpass, the admissions standards of public and private universities across the country. We offer a variety of advanced placement (AP) classes which allow our students to achieve university credits before they graduate from high school.
We invite you to explore our high school programs, and encourage you to contact us if you have questions.
