The Quarry Lane School offers before and after school care for school-aged children. Transportation is available from the following Pleasanton schools.

Alisal Elementary School, Pleasanton

Henry P. Mohr Elementary School, Pleasanton

Valley View Elementary School, Pleasanton

Vintage Hills Elementary School, Pleasanton

Please contact Admissions Director Kelly Knabe kknabe@quarrylane.org for more information about tuition credit if transportation is not needed or available to/from your public school.

Created to provide before and after school enrichment, The Quarry Lane School offers Kid Zone, an after school program, during the school year at the Pleasanton East Campus. This program serves students in Kindergarten through grade five and includes transportation to and from some Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) public schools.

Transportation via school vans to/from some Pleasanton public schools is included as part of this program.

“No Pick-Up” Notification
Parents are required to notify the Quarry Lane School at least one hour prior to dismissal time if their child does not need to be picked up from public school. Notification must be submitted in writing by email to kidzone@quarrylane.org, fax (925) 462-1066 or in person. If parents fail in this notification procedure more than five times, the child may be dropped from the program.

Drop Off and Pick Up
Children receiving before school care must be at QLS each morning at least 40 minutes prior to their public school class start time. Children will be transported according to their public school schedule (8:00–8:15 a.m./9:00–9:35 a.m.). Children receiving after school care must be at the designated pick-up spot within five minutes of their public school’s dismissal. Please remind your child to be at the pick up point promptly after school. (Transportation times and schedules may change based on PUSD bell schedules.)

Program Activities
The Kid Zone program engages students through STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) laboratories. STEM is an educational concept that emphasizes hands on, real-world experience and open-ended problem solving, with a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics while adding the arts. The goal is to engage students by sparking their interests. Students use educational websites in the computer lab. Students also participate in creative activities including writing, theatre, drama and art. Other enriching activities include: Homework Club, outdoor/cooperative games, cooking and library.

Extracurricular Activities
We are pleased to offer extra-curricular classes from independent contractors working with the Quarry Lane School. These contractors pick up the children from their classrooms and take them to another classroom on campus for their instruction/activity. When they are finished, the independent teacher returns the children to their regular classrooms.

The courses presently offered include:

Homework Club
Homework Club, held Monday-Thursday, is designed to help your child get a jump start on their homework. A quiet setting is provided to keep your child on track. You may require your child to attend Homework Club, or allow them to choose. Please note that tutoring services are not available. Space in our Homework Club is limited. Children in grades three through five will be given priority enrollment in the club.

Faculty and Staff
We provide an after school environment that balances both play and enrichment. In addition to our quality faculty, the school size and low ratios make the difference. Drivers are trained and certified, and work as school staff within the program.

Snack and Lunch
The Quarry Lane School provides an afternoon snack with milk or juice each day. Hot lunches are available through an independent on-line catering company for children who are here during the noon lunch hour, at an additional cost. They provide a monthly menu and parents can sign up for daily, weekly, or monthly hot lunch. If your child will be here during the noon lunch hour, but you do not wish to purchase a hot lunch, please send lunch to school in a lunch box, or bag that has your child’s name. Please do not include food items that are high in sugar content. No candy, carbonated soda drinks, tree-nut, or peanut products are permitted at school. Due to severe, life-threatening, food allergies, peanuts and tree nuts are prohibited at Quarry Lane School.

Please be aware, all peanut and nut products are prohibited at school. Due to the similar appearance of substitute butters such as almond butter, sunflower seed butter, soy butter, etc., the school cannot be responsible for determining if nuts are present, therefore, substitute butters are not permitted.

Children are not permitted to bring hand sanitizer to school. We promote frequent hand washing with soap and water.

Glass Containers
Glass containers may not be handled by children at any time. Please do not pack glass containers in your child’s belongings.

Holiday Camp
For an additional daily charge, “Holiday Camp” may be available when the public schools do not hold classes or are closed for holidays (and Quarry Lane is open).
