The Leadership Class has organized a lunch fundraiser today, Thursday April 19, which raised money for UNICEF Africa, inspired by the KONY 2012 video that went viral a few weeks ago. It is a wonderful collaboration with many of our students.
The night before the charity lunch fundraiser, one student, who hails from China and hopes to open his own restaurant one day spent the evening cooking with Lionel Lumingo from Angola. Lumingo said of their efforts, "It turned out good- perfect!" The mix of cultures came together in the magnificent feast that was presented.
In addition to the cooking efforts of the students, several other families have made food from Nigeria and Uganda. Junior Dhruv Gupta was heard saying, "It's really good!" and Sophomore, Will Drake gave a thorough review of the food, explaining, "I really like the flavor. It has a lot of spice and tastes really rich."
The cost of the lunch was $10 and it included a buffet style feast, served up by the Leadership class. The students had a great turn out with a mix of students and teachers joining the line and experiencing the food. All proceeds will help the Invisible Children campaign.
