Congratulations to Tara K. and Audrey M., who advanced through seven rounds over two days of Public Forum debate this past weekend at the San Francisco Bay District qualifying tournament to earn alternate spots at the National Speech and Debate Championships in June at Salt Lake City.
A hearty congratulation to our two first grade students who earned two of the ten winning spots in the nationwide Scholastic Famous Faces Action Portrait.
Congratulations to the QLS Chess Team for a fantastic performance at the California State Championship this past weekend. Four Cougars participated in the high school JV category, coming second overall in this prestigious tournament for schools from all over California.
The Quarry Lane Speech and Debate continues to make an impact on the national level - thanks in part to a sensational performance by its group of eighth grade speakers. The Cougars earned a total of 13 qualifying spots to the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National championships this past Saturday in a district event in Alameda.
The East Bay Times recently featured Dr. Jyothi Bathina's eighth and ninth grade students who recently completed an anthology of short stories, Privileged Not Perfect. The book will be published with an official book launch scheduled on March 31st, with the proceeds benefiting Literate Voices, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting youth literacy around the globe.
The Quarry Lane Speech and Debate team produced its finest showing at a State qualifying tournament this past Saturday at James Logan High School when five Cougars earned berths for the States either as competitors or alternates.
