Fourteen QLS Students Win Honorary Mention for Toshiba ExploraVision Competition

Out of 26 QLS middle school students who participated in this year's Toshiba ExploraVision Science Competition, 14 were recognized with Honorary Mention awards. The Toshiba ExploraVision Science Competition is a highly competitive program which spans the U.S. and Canada. Students are asked to research a known technology and develop a new idea or vision of how this technology could be improved and used in the future. The following students were recognized with Honorary Mention awards for standing out among over approximately 15,000 entries for their achievement in their ability to combine creative with analytical thinking skills:
- Amelia Afrin and Huda Sadaat for their project on a mind controlled communication device,
- Ameena Eldeeb, Ellen Fordham, and Eva Liu for their work on an orientation and communication device for people who are visually impaired,
- Harsha Mudaliar and Yi Lin for the simulated development of a regulatory electro brain wave interpreter as a "mind reading" device,
- Aliva Panigrahi, Tyler Lu, and Ryota Hashimoto for their vision of a portable X-ray and medical communication device,
- Daniel Chen, Alex Liu, Constin Liu, and Alireza Darivsh for their idea on how to use embryonic stem cells in kidney regeneration for transplants.
